British Wheelchair Basketball

With over 130 teams competing across a variety of leagues, British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB) houses a hub of sporting activity. Focusing on growing and developing the sport from Grassroots up to High Performance, BWB also provides fantastic off-court opportunities in the development of clubs, coaches and officials.

People acquire injuries or degenerative conditions through a variety of ways, for many this can mean the end of a sporting career or the onset of other health related issues. However, the classification system for wheelchair basketball provides an equal platform for participation, allowing people with permanent lower limb injuries to get involved right through from beginners’ looking for a social outlet, to pursuing a professional career.

We have information available on the type of injuries and disabilities that typically classify someone to play wheelchair basketball such as: Multiple orthopaedic trauma, nerve damage in back effecting lower limbs, irreparable ligament and tendon damage.
